The name’s dotcom. Mom-101 dotcom.

7.11.2009

So it’s official: Mom-101 is now Mom-101.com.

Frankly, I was tired of writing .blogspot.com on nametags, in the URL bar, and on the boobs of passed-out drunk women on barroom floors when I’m self-promoting in subversive ways.

Huge thanks to Cynical Dad for again getting me through big scary tech stuff and not even making me cry once. Now maybe one day I’ll actually change my banner too, which I haven’t changed since I first put it up about three years ago.

Hm…should I change my low-tech, off -enter, totally ridiculous handmade clip art banner? Or does it somehow work for me? I’ve always wondered…

—-
(Totally coincidentally my banner is missing right now. I think that could be a sign.)

I like the banner… when it's there. Congrats on the new home.

Without the banner your website looks naked…very sexy! *laugh*

Me too! I just got rid of blogspot.com and went to “dot.com.” I guess we're trend setters, right? ;)

Congrats on getting your own domain! So nice not to have to type in .blogspot.com anymore to get here! See, it's sweet for us, too! And, no banner is very MYSTERIOUS…HOTT!

LOL!!! It was so nice to meet you last week! Good luck with the banner!

Bannerless is the new topless. Awesome.

I think you should keep the clip art picture in your banner. It's very anti frilly-cutesy-mommy-blog.

I'm getting rid of my blogspot.com address, too. I just can't decide if I want to completely jump ship to Wordpress or still have a Blogger site with a .com.

And yeah, I like the banner. But bannerless does look a little naked at the moment.

Congrats on the new home!

I'll make sure I get the address right on any bathroom wall scribblings I make. Got to win that box of tampons . . .

I lovelovelove the banner style you have. I don't do well with change. The dot com is all I can handle right now. ;)

Funny, I just this week finished the transaction to get kittenpie.com from its former owner, too! Feels good, doesn't it?

Keep the banner. I love the simplicity of it! ;)

I liked your banner. Congrats on the domain. Hope your transition goes more smoothly than mine did! :)

Keep the banner. I'm already forgetting her face and that makes me a little sad.

Fairly frequent reader, first-time commenter. Hmmm… well, I do look at signs pretty carefully. And all the signs point to keeping your banner — I'm clearly not the only one who thinks it's just so awesome, just so… you. :) a

the elusive banner … lol Good for you for taking the plunge!

Where'd your banner go? Did Blogger own it??? I've always liked your banner. You can't go too slick b/c then you'll have to change your name to Mom-201.

I'm proud of you! I hope to make the plunge someday when I'm all grown up.

I was just thinking the other day that I wish I could figure out how to do the .com!

Congrats to you – that is awesome!

Don't change! Sigh et tu, Pundit Mom? I looked to y'all as benchmarks. Now I guess I'll have to go that route eventually. But not until I've used up my current batch of business cards. Do me a favor and grab one from me at BlogHer. Each one comes with a gourmet lolli courtesy of Das Foods, my unsponsor.

Reply

Mom101 July 12, 2009 at 8:17 pm

Nice subtle dropping of your sponsor's name in comments, Kim. I'll give you a pass because I happen to think Das Foods rocks it. They even made it into the Cool Mom Picks holiday guide last year under hostess gifts. I wish they were sponsoring everyone at BlogHer in fact – I'm scared most people are going to try and hand me cleaning supplies.

Busy Mom July 12, 2009 at 9:03 pm

Well, look at you and your big girl url…

I'll, um…take those cleaning supplies from you if they come with someone to use them.

Midwest Mommy July 12, 2009 at 10:24 pm

Congrats! I loved it when I did it too.

I felt like such a grown-up when I went dotcom. Only for a little bit though. Then I was right back on the floor barking at my son to make him giggle.

Mrs. Q. July 13, 2009 at 2:51 am

Congrats, dot commer.

If you are feeling like a change, you could always update your banner to that tampon graphic.

Congrats on your new address! When's the url warming party?

Just wanted you to know that I ran into your blog… somehow… and think you're frickin' hilarious! I just read through a few of your recent posts, related in several ways (I write on the boobs of passed-out drunk women, too) and laughed… outloud. Thanks for sharing your amazing writing, humor, and life's moments with us…

RookieMom Whitney July 13, 2009 at 4:38 am

I will probably hand you cleaning supplies. At least they'll be non-toxic.

Don't put .com in your banner ever. That's my $0.02 based on some legal conversations I've had to endure recently.

The banner is showing up for me, does that mean it's back?

Congratulations on your new domain! It's much easier to remember this way =)

I've always considered you a mistress of your own domain ;) I remember that day 3 years ago when the banner showed up and thus I'm partial to it. But change has its benefits, too.
