To anyone who has ever complained about not getting the birth plan they wanted

This morning, I woke up to the BEEP of a text message, and wondered who the heck was texting me at 6AM.

Turns out, it was Kristen Chase, directing me the best Twitter stream ever, starting about 9 last night and ending around 2.

If you know Kristen, her amazing sense of humor (even in a crisis, clearly), and how she’s about the best friend, business partner and human being that anyone could ever want in their lives, you’d be shedding copious joyous tears right now too.
The world needs more awesome, committed, loving mamas in the world, and once again, we have one. So here’s to Baby #4 Kristen. I vote we name her Vesta. For the firemen who delivered her.

  1. I knew I would wake up to news that Kristen's baby was here! But what a story!

I am sure her husband is just itching to start cleaning. 🙂

    Smiling here. Thanks for posting.

  2. Hooray! For firefighters and husbands and MAMAS who know best!

And for brand new babies, who bring us all hope and joy.

Welcome to the Universe, Baby Uncensored. It's been waiting just for you!

  3. This made my morning. I'd seen the contractions tweet last night, and was insanely tickled to discover the home birth during my commute. She rocks.

  4. I also had an unplanned home birth; Sage was born on my couch and then the EMT who did the apgars took MY pulse. DOH! Congrats to Kristen!

  5. Mazel tov!

I had responded to her first tweet that my OB had told me to haul ass to the hospital when we called to tell her I was in labor because it was my second. By that measure, Kristen should have jumped in the car the second the first contraction was over because it seems that, by your fourth, babies fly out.

So glad everyone is doing well!

  6. So happy to read this! I had a homebirth also.

Birth is natural and can be done at home safely if mom and baby are of good health. This is another story that proves it.

Congrats to the mama. Great work!

  7. I don't use Twitter, so my reactions are those of an uninitiated: she was in a mind to type out statuses while all of this was going on?? And, WOW! Twitter is so cool! And, is this what it means to be so connected? Congrats to Kristen!
